Nevada Election Results 2010

A News By 4usnews:harron Angle, a Republican senatorial candidate came within five minutes as the warm-up act for her own actions last week in Las Vegas. To the delight of the crowd, Angle scoffed at Senate Majority Leader and President, Harry Reid, the “Man on the” four times, implored her supporters to vote, said she knew “that the American dream looked like” and blew a few kisses.

Outside of her supporters spoke in apocalyptic terms of the threat that the Obama administration, which represent for the country. “He represents everything that is the antithesis of freedom,” said one. “He wants to enslave us.” Others have argued that the president does not understand “the fundamental principles that lead people to live in America. They want to work and do not want transferred to the hard disk.” When asked if the president has done anything at all that they approve, the majority said “no”, one said he could give a good example for black people on how to start a family.

By this time, Angle has long gone, freeing up the stage of the Republican grandee Newt Gingrich, leaving the back door, avoiding the media. It is almost never seen.

Angle, which has the support Tea Party, is in a tight race with Reed. Her attempt to oust the most powerful Democrats in the upper house attracts millions of dollars and generated national news. Its media strategy seems to avoid the media. Local journalists were seen chasing her across the parking lot and her staff provide the bait, as it escapes. Her schedule is not open. In addition to his television commercials and the occasional presence on the right-wing radio – which constitute one and the same – it is virtually invisible to the public.

Strategy seems to work. Nevada voters see less of the angle the more they seem to like her. Last week, her lead grew. The last poll put her ahead by four points. On the contrary, it often appears in public more likely it is that her mother should later explain, deny or make out. Last week, she told a group of students Latino: “Some of you look a little more Asian to me.” She said that rape victims with their baby turned “lemons into lemonade” that terrorists go through the Canadian border, and suggested that two American cities live under sharia law.

The story of how such loose language candidate came within a few days of the beheading of the Democratic senatorial assembly is, in many ways, the story of this election. Angle ran as an outsider in the race withRepublican support Tea Party against the establishment favorite, Sue Lowden. Reid prayed for victory angle, because he believed it would strengthen their chances. Republicans must. But if her candidacy was a lot more confidence that many more voters than Democrats had hoped. While Reid was supported by several more common, more high-profileRepublicans in the state, very few Republican voters followed suit. After 28 years in Washington, Reid is fighting for his political life.

Angle of success is also a story about Nevada: the state with high unemployment and foreclosure homes in the country. For a whileLas Vegas was the fastest growing city in the country. People bought homes with no precipitation, it borrowed heavily on them. Roughly three-quarters of homes are now in negative equity. Unfinished homes sit on a semi-street, gated communities designed to keep unwanted right now desperate to keep in. Last year, for the first time in recent history,Las Vegas, declined.

Demographic outflows explains one reason why Reed is struggling. Nevada, like many south-western states, has a high turnover of population. Approximately 40% of voters were not even here, in 2004, when Reed was last re-elected. His legacy has little meaning for them.

“If you look at the history of Nevada, we have a strong tradition of small government, low spending, libertarian philosophy,” explains David Damore, an associate professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. “We do not even income tax. And Sharron Angle you have those who have a history of political activity and now tea before a Tea Party”.

The Tea Party is nothing more than a redistribution of forces that dominate the right-wing American politics for more than a generation. In 1977, the radical journalist Andrew Kopkind wrote: “There is a great social upheaval in the heart of America, which currently finds expression in a new constellation of the traditionalist, individualist and fundamentalist movements Eats established politicians and practitioners from the right, and. Well-fed their . But to ignore his original roots in hometown America is wrong to the new national mood, and to become more vulnerable victim. ”

These forces formed the basis of support for Ronald Reagan and George Bush against Bill Clinton and now Barack Obama. Unlike Clinton, this time they have an economic crisis, to exploit. In Nevada,Republicans also targeted immigrants and immigration, portraying Latinos as criminals and urged them not to vote.

Gingrich was speaking of Las Vegas “jobs tour”. Believers carried placards calling for “jobs here, the work now.” From the rostrum, they railed not against welfare codes and immigrants, but the bank bailouts, and government spending, in particular, and government in general. Many of the anxieties are real, even if the proposed solutions are deeply flawed.

Contradictions of the movement, that both attacks and is financed by big business is not lost on some who describe it as “running” (fake grassroots). They have a point. A recent Washington Post attempted to contact each organization’sTea Party in the country found 70% did not participate in any political campaign this year, and many there were hardly any at all. Last Saturday, the call for patriots to do the work in the grassroots marginal Democratic district, Henderson, Nev., were not heard: nobody came.

Message described Tea Party “is not much movement as disparate band vaguely related meetings, which are surprisingly small, to participate in the political process.” While Fox News and the big business may suffer Tea Party, they have not invented and can not by themselves explain how much he has accomplished in such a short period of time.

Unlike 1994, when Gingrich cited recent Republican midterm landslide, is the latest right revival is not for the party establishment, but against him. In 1994, Republicans have a clear set of requirements set forth in the Contract with America, while the tea is inconsistent and incomplete of United over the fact that he is opposed to what it is worth.

Outside the Obama rally in Las Vegas, Sharon Young stands with a placard branding Obama the socialist and communist. She thinks that he is also Muslim. Angle supporter, the young are unemployed and has no health care. So why does she support a candidate who wants to get rid of health care and unemployment benefits stop?

“To be honest, I did not pay too much attention to” Obama-care, “the whole thing,” she says. “He does not care about people like me. I had only focused on getting these illegal people from my country......

Nancy Pelosi

A news by 4usnews:Voters ousted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of power on Tuesday, four years after she became the first woman Speaker in history, passing the majority of the House of Representatives Republican landslide surpassing the historic election of 1994.

By the time the polls closed in the East and Midwest, the Republicans won 220 seats for the Democrats 146. Republicans won 56 of a functioning democracy, winning well over 39 seats they need to take control of the House, Democrats from Florida, a major in Michigan as voters frustrated with the anemic economy, close to double digit unemployment and a ballooning federal debt flared up at the polling booth.

The Democrats lost not only their marginal seats in the South, but also took a beating Ohio industrial center, swing-state Virginia, and West regions, a key role in presidential elections.

Early returns showed the Republican, David Harmer leading Democratic incumbent Jerry McNerney in the East Bay.
Democrats hold the Senate

While the Democratic majority in the Senate has decreased, the Democrats held the upper chamber, easily winning sharply contested seat in West Virginia, to provide them with the Senate firewall. Republicans have won at least six seats, not counting 10 seats they needed for a majority. Republicans ousted the veteran Wisconsin Democratic liberal Russ Feingold and captured the trophy Illinois Senate seat vacated by President Obama.

Amorphous, but potent Tea Party, whose origins trace some political experts in February 2009 recitation Rick Santelli CNBC, was rejected by veteran heavyweights on both sides, but soon turns into the political landscape. The first sign of its potency in the election was a shocking upset ofRepublican Scott Brown for the victory of Senator Ted Kennedy in late February last year.

Even when a wave of democratic retirement opened the door to the Republican Party, Tea Party supported candidates from Utah to Kentucky to South Carolina to Alaska continued to knock the establishment Republicans in the primaries. In Nevada, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – who maneuvered to make sure the tea party supported Sharron Angle will be his opponent – backed away from a very tight victory.

California proved ejection, bucking national trends by re-electing the current Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer, but not without a strong challenge fromRepublican Carly Fiorina, who kept the race in California in the margin of error for most of the campaign and its high growth in the Republican Party.

Pelosi, who was elected in San Francisco in 1987, became a national symbol of voter anger, especially in swing-district Democrats she had some work to build its democratic majority in 2006.

Very achievements for which she was proclaimed as one of the most effective speakers in modern times – a huge health care overhaul, $ 800 billion stimulus, climate change, legislation, and to re-regulate Wall Street – came to represent voltage, that independent voters rejected Tuesday.

More than anyone else in Washington, Pelosi was speaking on the agenda of President Obama. His falling popularity helped sink it, and its absence in most deeply damage Obama’s presidency and will make White House to reconsider its legislative strategy. HouseRepublicans, however, face a Democratic Senate and a presidential veto, which severely limits their ability to adopt its agenda.
Extension of the Bush era tax cuts

Republican Leader John Boehner, the 18-year veteran of Washington, Ohio, will hammer in January, promising “new way forward” that will focus on reducing costs and upgrade the Bush era tax cuts. Those tax cuts, which expires Dec. 31, forcing congressional action in the lame-duck session, which begins on November 15.

It was the third election in a row, in which voters rejected a large number of incumbents, the level of political instability not seen since 1950.Republicans said they know the ugly mood holds danger for them, despite their back-from-dead revival with their trouncing in 2008 and 2006.

Boehner has promised not to repeat the mistakes of their predecessors, the Republican Party, including low cost, but the Republican campaign in general and have not yet made specific and potentially unpopular decisions that deficit reduction is needed.

Pelosi has not said whether it will work again lead the Democrats in the minority. It will almost certainly be challenged. Until the GOP speaker Newt Gingrich and Denny Hastert resigned shortly after the elections, similar lesions.

Democrats have told themselves that they would never grow complacent or be caught by surprise as it was in 1994 when Republicans took control of the House for the first time in 40 years.

However, signs of voter concern arose at the beginning of an Obama presidency, with polls consistently show a weakness of Obama was worried about a sharp increase in deficit spending, even when he was on horseback in overall popularity.

After a contentious stimulus passed without Republican votes in the House, Pelosi moved quickly to pass cap and trade climate change legislation despite the opposition of swing Democrats who feared that they would suffer in the election.

Obama then made health care reform in the spotlight of his presidency, asserting that the taming of the costs of insurance would stimulate the economy and help workers affected by the recession. Pelosi dismissed the grass-roots resistance to the Bill of health care in August 2009, insisting that when he passed, it will be popular. It does not matter.....

Women, only two women ever to run for the presidential ticket major party, both Fox News contributors.

Nancy Pelosi Wins In California

A news by 4usnews:California continues to be one of the most liberal states in the nation, but that does not mean their laws will change overnight. This message, which support 19 supporters distributed after the results show a loss for the legalization of marijuana.

Prop 19 was defeated by a large turnout among older voters. Supporters of the properties of 19 believe that it was the first step in legalizingmarijuana, and they claim that this will not only California, which vote on the issue in 2012.

“We may have lost the battle today, but we are still alive and in war,” said Brian Bellsten. “We (the supporters of prop 19) introduced the issue of legalizingmarijuana to its highest level ever, and there are groups in other states will follow our example. I think we will see these types of questions are voting in several states in the next election.”

Yesterday, CGW has described how the marijuana issue parallels the gambling issue. At first, many states with regard to gambling expansion, but with perseverance, lawmakers and the pro-gambling groups have created extensions in dozens of U.S. states over the past couple of years. Bellsten considers conservation will also pay the price formarijuana advocates.

There was good news for the Liberals in California. Nancy Pelosi has retained his seat in the house, despite the loss of the status of majority leader when Republicans gained control of the chamber. Pelosi was noncommittal on the issue of online gambling in the U.S., and it is likely that the new minority leader will be selected when the management changes at the beginning of next year.

Pelosi had low ratings, but the district in which it is one of the most liberal in the country. Soon to be former Speaker of the House of Representatives, won a complete victory in the fight for his place at home.Republicans were unhappy with Pelosi and her agenda in the house, as the Obama administration took control last year. ..

Harry Reid

A news by 4usnews:Sweeping Republican victory Tuesday night that pulled the control of the House Democrats and a decrease in their Senate majority to the Congress will flow impatient, anti-Washington newcomers, many elected with the support Tea Party.

But when the class of the Republican Party in 2010 arrived on Capitol Hill, he is likely to be led by two decidedly old-school hands of Washington. The house, a 10-term Ohio Congressman John Boehner is expected, the success of the country’s first woman Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California. And in the Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was first elected in 1984.

Democrats retained control of the Senate on Tuesday, the thin edge. win Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada helped his party to avoid the leadership battle between Charles Schumer of New York and Richard Durbin of Illinois.

There’s little argument that divided the Congress will present a President Obama with his biggest legislative challenge after two years of Democratic control. And Boehner is the public face of this problem.

In his speech, election night, Boehner stressed his humble roots of Ohio, rather than his 20 years in the capital, and said the country was “witnessing failure of Washington … failure of big government.” He said that if Obama is ready to “change course” Republicans “are willing to work with him.”

Earlier, in a telephone conversation in the collection of tea party, he said: “I’ll never let you down.”

Both Boehner, 60, and McConnell, 68, pledged to block the agenda of the president as he prepares to seek re-election. The Republicans promise to use their new clout to back the signature of health care legislation Obama to make permanent the tax cuts the Bush era, and reduce costs – although, as yet not clear.
Obama has appointed a news conference at 1 pm Wednesday, he is expected to signal how he will approach the new political reality that looks very similar to a deadlock. The White House was not telling on Tuesday night.

But serious problems also await Boehner and McConnell.

As two-over tactics corral the Caucasus, which have been pushed to the right of small government pressure Tea Party and elected by voters who expressed their deep disapproval of Congress?

“We’re in a very short leash here,” says Rep. Jeff Flake, Arizona Republican. “We told people we would not only be better than the Democrats, but better than we were.”

Boehner Burden

When new members come home, Flake said Boehner will be “riding a tiger.” Dozens of new members to represent the “big room in theRepublican conference, and they want a serious commitment to deficit reduction.”

Some Republicans even threatened to force the government shutdown if spending is not cut.

Boehner task will require the balance of the real budget cuts – including for social purposes, like Social Security and Medicare – to the party to return to the White House in 2012.

Agenda? Attack on health care legislation – perhaps with the abolition of voting to satisfy the voters, and then a more serious attempt at through a process of appropriation. Effort to make permanent the Bush eratax cuts. And a number of proposals to reduce costs. But whether or not Boehner will strike the right programs with the impending presidential election remains a big question – and in his own collections, too.

Flake is among those who say it would be “very difficult to bring the budget into something close to balance, without touching those programs.
Back to the Future?

Much has been made of the parallels between this year and “Republican Revolution” of 1994. That’s when the party took over the house after 40 years of democratic rule. A Speaker Newt Gingrich engaged in a fight with President Clinton that led to the government shutdown.

Gingrich and the Republicans paid a political price for this battle. Clinton was reelected in 1996 and two years later, Gingrich was gone.

But some Republicans, including GOP strategist Vin Weber, former Minnesota congressman, say, compared to 94 does not hold.

“John was not Newt, Clinton and Obama did not,” said Weber, who describes Boehner as a “legislator of the legislator.”

“Do not think,” he says, “that [off] will play the same way.”

Economics was not pressing issue at present, the country was not at war, there was no movement Tea Party, and, as Weber says, individuals can not be more different.

Says Steven Gillon, a historian who wrote a book about the rivalry between Gingrich-Clinton called the Covenant: “Gingrich did not want to be just an orator, he wanted to be revolutionary, he is a bad case of hubris, and he overreached ..”

Boehner, Gillon said: “It is a tactic. He did not visionary, it is not a big thinker. But you should not be Speaker of the House.”

“And we still do not know how well Obama in the fight with the Republicans or split Congress.”

Fight or negotiate

Those who know Boehner said that he experienced infighter, but not one given to politics of personal destruction. He is methodical man who, after the fall of Gingrich – and his own dismissal from theRepublican leadership – is slowly climbed back to where he is today.

“He puts his head down, took the long view, and points to the target at a distance,” said Kevin Madden, Republican strategist and former spokesman for Boehner.

Boehner supporters point to the bipartisan work he did on “No Child Left Behind” legislation when he headed the House Committee on Education. But Gillon sees a lot of pressure forward to the speaker in waiting.

“When you are a new speaker, who will win the big electoral landslide against the president of the opposing party, it’s difficult juggling act,” Gillon says. “He will be under great pressure from his own party to a stalemate and make the president look bad -. Even if he has a bipartisan basis,”
Republicans, say the strategists will have to lead.

“People are mad as hell, and it is alarming for Democrats and Republicans to get our fiscal house in order,” said Janet Mullins Grissom, McConnell’s former chief of staff. “This Congress will pull the right, but I hope that somewhere out there we will move forward the economy,”

Gillon shares an anecdote about election night 1994, when someone told Gingrich about the election results.

There’s good news and bad news,” Gingrich said. “You are the speaker, but wait until you meet people you helped elect........
