Don’t Forget to Set Your Time On Clocks Tonight

A News By 4usnews:Time does not suck it up, guys: after today, the world will be dark at 5 o’clock in the evening. Well, maybe not the whole world in accordance with this map, but here on the East Coast for sure, this “winter” as the standard time is also called. It makes sense to me because, although the official start of winter more than a month, if it is dark when you get up in the morning and dark when you’re eating dinner, the whole world seems kind of cool, is not it?

In addition to setting the clock back an hour today, take a minute to replace the batteries in your smoke as well. Jason Fitzpatrick on Lifehacker says: “properly installed and tested the alarm house fire fresh batteries is one of the simplest and most effective things you can do to protect yourself and your family from a house fire.”

Energizer has teamed up with the International Association of Fire Chiefs to offer, the batteries in your local fire department. (Call to see if your FD is involved.) Energizer to change your clocks to change the batteries campaign also offers free information and fire safety coloring pages for kids. Other things you can do with your extra hour today include making fire escape plan and testing (or buy) your carbon monoxide detector. Of course, you can just get an extra hour of sleep, but changing the batteries will help you rest easy knowing your family is protected for another year.....

Wisconsin River

A news By yahoofreeshop:The Wisconsin River was at that time around 3.5 feet above flood level and the latest news now in is that the levee has now actually failed. A representative of the Columbia County Emergency Operations Center, Patrick Beghin, confirmed this to CNN today (Monday). This means that around 100 homes in the area are in danger of flooding, according to a CNN report.

This is extremely worrying for all concerned as the Weather Agency said last night, “Once the levee completely fails … it is unknown how far south the flood waters of the Wisconsin River will travel.” It’s possible that some roads, to include sections of Interstate 39, may have to close and residents were asked to move to higher ground. It’s expected that the river flood levels will remain high through Wednesday and homes in Portage will remain under threat until the levels go down.

Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, & Bill Maher First To Slam Rick Sanchez

A news By yahoofreeshop:So if you haven’t heard (and we really, really doubt you haven’t at this point), Rick Sanchez was fired from CNN today. The cause: this radio rant where he went off on Jon Stewart and made what could be (and indeed were) construed as untoward remarks about Jews. Several pundits spoke up on the matter later this evening, and let’s just say there’s not much mourning out there for Sanchez.
Keith Olbermann came first and dropped the hammer on “[his] old back-up host,” awarding Sanchez “Worser” on “Worst Person in the World” and punctuating it with an unceremonious, “Bye Rick.” Rachel Maddow got in a dig too, though hers was in the context of poking fun at Alaskan Senate nominee Joe Miller, who found himself in hot water over an overconfident tweet, which a spokesman later blamed on a campaign volunteer.

Britons Killed In Peru Plane Crash Named

A news By yahoofreeshop:Two British tourists killed in a plane crash in Peru have been identified.
But there have been claims of lax supervision of the several dozen planes that make the flights after a series of crashes.

In February, four Peruvians and three Chileans died in a similar crash over the lines.

Five French tourists were killed in April 2008 when the plane they were traveling in went down near the Nazca lines, prompting the French government to issue a warning.

Foreign Office travel advice warns about the incidents.

It says: “Following the latest incident the Peruvian Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) has carried out an inspection of aircraft operating from Nazca airport.
